Ahead of the New Year. What does it take to realize our dreams in a world that too often seems indifferent or antagonistic to us? We need to empower ourselves more than anything else. Through processes of transformation, growth, and self-discovery, we gain self-empowerment and agency.

To help with this journey:

  • examine your values and aspirations. Which do you hold onto with the deepest, most potent convictions?
  • set SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) goals aligned with your values and aspirations. These goals should challenge you but also be achievable.
  • create a plan to achieve your goals. Include specific actions you will take, resources you will need, and milestones you will reach along the way in your plan.
  • act as soon as possible. You don't need to wait for the perfect moment to work toward your goals. Get started as soon as possible and be consistent with your efforts. Over time, progress is made by taking small, consistent steps.
  • seek support from friends and family or mentors/coaches. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you. Mentors, coaches, or friends might be able to help. A supportive network can help you overcome challenges and stay motivated.
  • practice self-care. Make sure you take diligent care of your physical, mental, and emotional health. Spend time exercising, meditating, or engaging in hobbies that nourish your body, mind, and spirit. Take care of yourself so you can give your best to others.
